When the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore debuted in 1993, the watchmaking world had no category for it — so AP created one.

Designed by Emmanuel Gueit and initially nicknamed “The Beast” for its oversized 42mm stainless steel presence, the Royal Oak Offshore launched as a limited run of just 100 pieces to test the market. The audience responded with instant devotion — and the Offshore has never looked back. The original reference was 25721ST, and the design referenced the classic Royal Oak with its hexagonal shape, exposed screws, and integrated bracelet while adding greater case thickness, rubber gaskets, ceramic pushers, and bold material experimentation that the standard Royal Oak never attempted.

Three decades later, the Royal Oak Offshore remains AP’s most experimental and culturally connected platform. The 2025 ceramic editions introduced a 43mm black ceramic case with green ceramic bezel — a first for this diameter — alongside a 42mm all-black ceramic model, both water-resistant to 100 metres with glareproofed sapphire crystals. A 37mm limited edition in white ceramic with an iridescent chameleon dial shifting between purple, blue, and green tones depending on light and angle further expanded the collection’s creative range in 2025.

From the original steel Beast to today’s ceramic masterpieces, the Royal Oak Offshore is the watch that defines bold luxury on every wrist it touches — and its secondary market strength across steel, ceramic, and precious metal references makes it as smart an investment as it is a statement.
